Hello, Port 45 Family and Friends!

This week I would like to discuss change. I have a lot of fear that comes along with change. When I came to work for Port 45 Recovery I was leaving a position that I had held for 5 years at another agency and I was taking a leap of faith going to a newer agency that was much different than what I was used to. Thankfully, everything worked out and I have had the honor of being on the ground floor as Port 45 has grown into the agency that it is today.

Fear of change can be crippling. It can be the driving force that keeps an addict on the streets. Fear of change, fear of withdrawal and fear of failure are often the deciding factors on whether an addict is willing to reach out for help. Change is inevitable in life. Nothing ever stays the same. Fighting against change can be exhausting. I am not perfect of accepting change. I stomp my feet and act like a toddler when someone forces change upon me.

What I have learned is that some changes are for the better good and that even those scary changes that I have had to make in my life has benefited me. Changes like recovering from addiction are good.

So, in the spirit of embracing change, I would like to welcome Amy Miller-Daub to the Port 45 Family.  I am excited to see how she uses her experience and passion for this field to assist us in the growth of our program.
